I’ve worked doing my air quality job in New Zealand and Australia for four years, and have recently got back to the UK and I now call York home with my partner. I like to read and further my own knowledge on many different subjects. My love of travel introduced me to yoga and I spend a lot of my spare time practicing yoga, exploring, and hiking. My pronouns are she/her.

I use computers to predict what the quality of our air will be like in the future and make sure that new buildings, roads, quarries, ports, airports don’t make our air quality worse.
I can also go out and do surveys in towns and cities to monitor what is in the air on that day, of over that month.
I am also involved in diversity and inclusion at work and I try and make sure that everyone feels included and happy at work.

My Typical Day:
I get up and do some yoga stretching and deep breathing to start my day well! I then turn on my laptop and I’m ready to predict what will be in our air tomorrow, or next year! I can either spend the entire day buried in spreadsheets (super fun ones!) or I can be outside measuring the air.

7:30 am: yoga and breakfast
9 am: sit down at my laptop and start working. I check emails and my diary for any important meetings. I open up yesterday’s monitoring results in a spreadsheet and begin interpreting them on a map and understanding why the air quality is the way it is.
10:30 am: take a cup of tea break then get back to work. I might start some emissions calculations for a new road being built and get them ready to go into a computer model to predict the quality of the air in 5 years when the road is built and make sure that it doesn’t make the area in the town any worse in condition than it is now.
12:30 pm: eat lunch and go for a short walk around York! Get back to work and maybe start reviewing policy documents to see what is already being done to make sure air quality is good. I may then write these up along with the monitoring results into a report.
5:30 pm: finish work for the day!
